Technical Assistance Providers

The NC Central University Department of Public Health Education (NCCU) provides technical assistance and grant management services to organizations that are receiving grants through the NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund’s Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative. The goal of the Health Disparities Initiative is to address the problem of unequal health outcomes for African-Americans, Latinos and American Indians in North Carolina by offering grants to eliminate health disparities related to diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Technical assistance includes chronic disease program management design and implementation as well as nonprofit organizational development.

NCCU helps grantee organizations develop strategies that strengthen the infrastructure needed to achieve the Health Disparities Initiative program goals. Additionally, NCCU monitors grantee activities to ensure compliance with NC HWTF and state policies related to grant programs and contract management. The NCCU Technical Assistance team is advised by an independent group of management and subject matter experts who provide guidance and enhance the team’s role.
